Paulus Berensohn
Radical presence.
I came across the book “Finding one’s way with clay - pinched pottery and the colour of clay” by Paulus Berensohm online somewhere, tracked a secondhand copy down and added to cart immediately. The book focuses on pinch pots - but really delving deep and extending the meaning of them and all the ways you can pinch. Written in 1972 by dancer turned potter Paulus Berensohn, it presesnts pottery not just as a craft, but as a meditative and spiritual practice - this is evident throughout the book through both his words and pictures. It is inspiring as both a how to book, and a reflection of the craft and practice of pottery.
The below clip gives more insight into Paulus, I relate to the “radical presence with each pinch” he describes.
